One of the common questions I get from LNCs and LCPs is how to find more clients and make more money. Obviously, you got into this business with a heart and passion for using your skills to make a profitable business for yourself but even in a good economy, there is only so much that you can do to market yourself to the right attorney at the right time.

One thing that has always helped me is the idea of revenue streams. Revenue streams are the varied avenues by which I produce an income for my business.

Whether that is through working with Legal Nurse Consultants and Life Care Planners on their marketing efforts, writing and publishing works related to the field or working with other small business entrepreneurs and their social media efforts…I try not to count on all of my revenue to come from the same place.

I encourage LNCs and LCPs to do the same. The more you vary your revenue stream, the more successful your practice will become. Don’t get discouraged, this can happen fairly easily. Recently, I began working with a firm called the Laurras Group and they are a national certifying body for Health Record Consultant.  This is definitely something I encourage you to look into the certification as an add-on source of revenue for your practice.  A Certified Health Record Consultant (CHRC) helps individuals, families and seniors with gathering, compiling, organizing and maintaining their personal health records.

According to the site, there are an unlimited number of potential clients out there. I totally agree. As a person with a complicated health history, I would certainly love to have a personal health record created and maintain for me and would gladly pay for it. And I would suspect that there are plenty of people out there just like me.  So if you’re not getting as much legal nurse consulting work as you’d like, why not consider getting certified in another revenue producing stream and marketing that as a service to a different population not just potential attorney clients.
