The Prosepcting Hour…Ok, 30 Mins

Today’s  post is in response to the overwhelming number of clients recently who are convinced that this recession is the reason that their Legal Nurse Consulting practice isn’t as successful as they’d like it to be.LNCPracticeBuilder Clock

Now for some tough love. I usually follow up that with two questions…which I’ve blogged about many times before.

Question #1- How many times today did you say the name of your business/practice out loud? And Question #2- How many hours did you spend prospecting for clients? The answer to both is usually “not enough.”

One of the most difficult transitions for nurses to make when entering the business world is realizing that clients don’t walk into the ER. In the hospital you knew you were good at what you did by providing superior care, quickly to patients and there was rarely a day where you didn’t have clients.  You came on your shift and took over where your predecessor left off. You were assigned work. In the world of business you have to find work.

One of the best ways to do that is to prospect. I have outlined this concept in detail in The 30 Second Speech Isn’t Working, Now What? Book, but in essence it involves creating a plan and doing it every day. Whether that is through social media marketing, cold calls, mailings, networking, lunches, walks in the park. Regardless of your methods, you must prospect every day.

Set aside time this week to develop a strategy to market yourself and your practice. If you want some new social media marketing strategies our newest book is available at our LNC Bookstore as well as on Amazon.com

Start with one method and one hour a day for one week and see what happens. Ok, 30 minutes.
